The Poor Kid Who Dresses Well

Overcast Seattle keeps its dreams under the blanket
Trying hard to keep them warm.
I could have sworn I had everything
Before I came here. And now I'll leave
With a bit of the dream to sleep on,
To keep pressed against my ear.
It whispers in drips of Puget Sound
And aside from condescension,
First impressions during second rounds,
A little bit of distance has brought me closer to home.
