A Dream In Waking

The assumption is a position
As conditionless as the open air
That finds its way through hair let down,
But never done to me.
We're pulling each other
Over calendar boxes and parallel time lines.
Tugboats that give me slack as I
Drift towards the island in a sea of asphalt,
Because the bags under these eyes
Are heavier to carry than sobriety.
